A thorough history and physical examination will be performed with a focus on significant weight changes, areas of subcutaneous excess and tissue laxity. The areas of volume excess and areas of significant laxity are marked to discuss patient expectations and treatment plan of action.

The patient will be prescribed a non-addictive and safe pain medication to be taken the day before and the morning of the procedure. Before starting the procedure, a small access incision is made in a strategic area from where a tumescent infiltration will be performed to numb the area to be treated and then insert the cannula to perform the actual treatment.

Once the area to be treated is fully numbed the practitioner will use the same small incision to insert the cannula and adjust the speed of the heat application and/or the amplitude of the strokes while heating the tissues to gradually increase the temperatures of both the internal and the external tissues. Once the therapeutic temperatures both internally and externally are achieved they must be maintained for the clinically appropriate amount of time (typically 30 to 60 seconds). The full length of the treatment usually takes between 45 to 60 minutes. 

Following application of RF energy, suction assisted lipectomy may be performed. The practitioner might wish to perform liposuction in larger patients with substantial subcutaneous fat before application of the RF energy to save time in heating the soft tissues. If fat is to be harvested for transfer, liposuction must be done before RF heating, which will cause lipolysis. 

The thermal energy produced during the treatment is safety and automatically controlled in real time, its operating range ranges between 45-60°C safely eliminating fat deposits and ensuring optimal results in the treated areas. 

Once excess fat is treated and liquified this can be safely and easily suctioned through the same small incision used to insert the treatment cannula leaving a minimal and almost invisible incision, if any. 

• Standard compression garments are routinely worn by the patient for 10 to 14 days. 

• Avoid use of any skin products for the first 3 to 4 days after fractional RF treatment.

• Except for the avoidance of high-salt foods, there are no dietary restrictions. 

• Patients are encouraged to walk as soon as possible.

• Heavy lifting and exercise should be held off for 2 to 3weeks.

• Suture, if any, is removed 7 to 10 days after treatment.
