Estrogen: Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

As estrogen levels decrease with age, premature ovarian failure, or surgical menopuase, women are at greater risk for many conditions. Estrogen receptors are located throughout the body and brain, so decreasing levels of this critical hormone result in reduced skin elasticity, thinning of bone, and decreased cognitive function. The longer a woman is without the protective effects of her naturally-produced estrogen, the more she is at risk for health consequences like osteoporosis, heart disease, colon cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and diabetes.

In addition, within the brain, estrogen increases the amount of serotonin available to nerve cells, acting as a natural antidepressant and mood stabilizer.

Due to estrogen’s importance throughout the body, replacement with bioidentical natural hormones through a consistent, low-dose delivery is essential to long-term health and daily enjoyment of life.

Testosterone: Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Although it is typically thought of as a male hormone, testosterone is important to health in women. It supports mental clarity, sexual desire, and muscle tone and mass. When testosterone production decreases as a result of aging, premature ovarian failure, or surgical menopause, women often experience ‘brain fog,’ weight gain, and poor muscle growth even with regular exercise. A deficiency of testosterone can also lead to osteopenia (decreased bone quality), osteoporosis (weak bones), and/or muscle and joint pain.

A woman’s brain requires normal amounts of testosterone, along with estrogen, to produce serotonin, the body’s natural antidepressant. Without balanced testosterone and estrogen, women may experience increased anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbances, anger, sadness, and depression.

Synthetic vs. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

In 2002, the National Institutes of Health cut short the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) randomized controlled trial because a synthetic hormone medication, PremPro4, was found to be associated with a significant increase in risks among women who were taking it. They experienced a higher risk for breast cancer, heart attack, stroke, and venous thrombosis (clotting). As a result, millions of women to stopped taking synthetic hormones—patients and physicians alike began to search for alternatives.

“Bioidentical” means that the hormone’s biochemical structure is exactly identical to the hormones produced naturally by a woman’s endocrine system. Bioidentical hormones are plant-based, natural substances, containing neither hormones from other species (typically horses) or those that are formulated and manufactured (synthetic). Women’s and men’s bodies metabolize bioidentical hormones exactly as they metabolize those produced by the human endocrine system, minimizing side effects. In addition, bioidentical hormones can be matched to each individual’s unique needs, which is impossible with mass-manufactured products.

Tens of thousands of women and men have switched to bioidentical hormones, which have long been the therapy of choice in Japan and in France and other European countries. Bioidentical hormones have been extensively studied, with significant health benefits reported for both women and men. Accumulating data indicates that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can be very important to ongoing health for men andwomen alike.

Choosing Between Bioidentical Therapies

When considering hormone replacement therapy, balance and consistent delivery are key. Methods of delivering hormones such as creams, pills, injections, and even miniscule capsules fail to address these important criteria. In contrast, subcutaneous pellets deliver a constant stream of hormones into the bloodstream twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

However, hormone replacement therapy pellets differ. Some use fillers; others rely on more pure ingredients and precise compounding methods. Years of research went into developing the SottoPelle hormone replacement pellets, which are uniquely formulated to work with the body’s chemistry to support individual hormonal balance and optimum health.

Only SottoPelle uses biologically identical natural hormones and proper delivery (placement under the skin). Highly individualized treatment plans are prescribed after accurate testing and analysis. One treatment works for three to six months; some individuals experience even longer efficacy.

After a few weeks on SottoPelle, the difference in your life will be unmistakable. Your vitality will reach levels you haven’t experienced in years. You’ll wake up more rested, think more clearly—and enjoy sexual activity all over again.
