Say goodbye to muffin tops and love handles.
CoolSculpting® is the coolest, most innovative, non-surgical way to lose those annoying bumps and bulges of stubborn fat. This revolutionary technology targets and cools unwanted fat cells in the selected area to induce a noticeable, natural-looking reduction in fat bulges. Unlike most other methods of fat reduction, CoolSculpting involves no needles, surgery, or downtime. Patients often spend procedure time reading, working on their laptops, or simply relaxing. It’s safe, FDA-cleared and effective. Results look natural and can be seen as early as three weeks following treatment, with the most dramatic results after one to three months.

What will the results be?
Many patients are satisfied after one treatment. However, during your consultation, we can discuss a treatment plan that will meet your specific treatment needs.

What happens during the treatment?
To initiate the treatment we will position the device on your body. The device will then draw the bulge up between two cooling panels. The sensation is a firm pull and pressure – enough of a pull to ensure the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently. An hour or so later, depending on your needs, you’re done.

Can I return to normal activities after the procedure?
CoolSculpting is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Some patients experience redness, minor bruising, tingling, numbness or discomfort in the treated area, but this is temporary and will resolve completely. Often times, patients return to work after the session is over.

When will I see results?
You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after one to three months. Your body is still flushing fat cells and will continue doing so for up to four to six months after treatment.

Are the results permanent?
During CoolSculpting, the treated fat cells are eliminated. As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle, long-term results should remain stable.

Tighten your eyelid skin, reduce dark circles and elevate your eye brows all without surgical risk and minimal down time!

The Madonna Lift is the newest way to treat the wrinkles and saggy, lax skin around the eyes. Your physician will use the most advanced fractional CO2 laser known as the SmartXide DOT to treat these problem areas. The fractional laser treats deep into the skin around your eyes to plump up wrinkles, tighten the skin, lift sagging brows and improve the appearance…all without any surgical incisions.

How does it work?
DOT Therapy employs the latest fractional technology, which treats only a fraction of the skin at a time. The laser uses specially modulated beams of light about the width of a human hair, to penetrate into the skin. These beams of light destroy and contract the old collagen within the wrinkles and incite the body’s natural wound healing process to create new, youthful collagen in the skin. This causes the wrinkles around the eyes to plump up, tighten and soften.

Will it work for anyone?
The Madonna lift can be used on most patients with drooping eyelids, brows, and wrinkles around the eyes. However, only your physician can tell you if it is right for you.

Is the procedure safe for my eyes?
During the treatment, your physician will protect your eyes with protective shields allowing for safe treatment of the lids and brow area.

Is the Madonna Lift good for all skin colors?
The laser used for the Madonna Lift has been cleared by the FDA for use on all skin colors.

How long does it take?
The procedure only takes a few minutes in the physician’s office. You may need some additional time to apply topical anesthetic prior to the procedure.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient. However, most patients see results right away and full results are seen after 3-5 treatments.

What will I look like after treatment?
Your skin may be red and puffy after the procedure but this usually fades after a day. Make-up can be applied immediately after treatment allowing you to resume your normal daily activities right away.

How long will the results last?
Results vary from patient to patient but as your body continues to heal and create new strong, healthy and elastic collagen in your lids and eyes, you will continue to see improvement for up to six months after your last treatment. Results should last for several years but, as your skin continues to age, it is recommended you prolong the results with a good skin care regimen and daily protection from the sun.

Step 1. Revive The Shape of Your Skin

At the core of all connective tissues in the human body is a highly organized water-binding molecule called hyaluronan, better known as hyaluronic acid (HA). The unique properties of the sugars that make up HA contribute to the overall structure and cushioning of the skin. HA also facilitates the maintenance of healthy skin by promoting intercellular communication for efficient elastin and collagen production. Because the natural synthesis of HA’s component sugars slow not only with age but also with sun exposure, HA’s water-binding capacity to retain moisture is weakened. With less moisture in the skin, collagen and elastin production also slows and shallow to deep wrinkles begin to form as the skin loses it’s youthful structure. In order to restore the look of fullness to your skin, a normal level of HA water-holding complex needs to be restored. By utilizing a long-lasting hyaluronic acid gel, your “Vampire” professional can lift the skin away from the bone and youthful volume can be restored to a beautiful shape. This initial injection of HA is the first step in the journey to a younger you.

Step 2. Repair and Strengthen Your Skin with Blood-Derived Growth Factors

The internal essence of your blood contains life-giving fundamental protein growth factors designed to restore and strengthen your skin. The Vampire FaceLift® utilizes a leading-edge patented technology specifically designed and verified for aesthetic applications. With a simple, quick and advantageous process, your “Vampire” professional is able to harness a very high concentration of your biological nutrient-rich cells and create autologous platelet-rich plasma. 1st. The practitioner draws a similar amount of blood required for a basic lab test. 2nd. The practitioner places the blood into a centrifuge and spins the blood at a very rapid rate to separate the platelets from the other components of the blood. 3rd. The platelet-rich plasma is activated to release at least 8 essential growth factors and signaling proteins. Platelet-rich plasma is a regenerative technology that deploys aspects of your own biochemistry. The activated growth factors will instinctively know how to repair and strengthen the specific tissues where they reside. And, because all constitutes retrieved in PRP are exclusively from you (autologous in origin), there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or intolerance. Nevertheless, before the treatment disclose all the medications you are taking (including herbs) with your doctor.

Growth Factor Production Known Effects

1. Epidermal Growth Factor: Plays a significant role in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation during the remodeling phase. Stimulates keratinocyte and fibroblast production.

2. Transforming Growth Factor: Promotes angiogenesis which is the physiological process involving the growth of new blood vessels.

3. Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor: An important signaling protein involved in both vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, the growth of blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature.

4. Fibroblast Growth Factor: Promotes angiogenesis, granulation, and epithelialization for the intricate process of the skin repairing itself after injury.

5. Platelet-Derived Growth Factor: Attracts macrophages and fibroblasts to the zone of injury. Promotes collagen growth and proteoglycan synthesis.

6. Interleukins, Macrophages, keratinocytes, endothelial cells, lymphocytes, fibroblasts, osteoblasts, basophils, mast cells: Activates fibroblast differentiation. Induces collagen and proteoglycan synthesis for healthy cell production and repair of damaged tissues.

7. Colony Stimulating Factor: Stimulates granulocyte and macrophage proliferation for the growth of healthy tissue and blood cells.

8. Keratinocyte Growth Factor: Keratinocyte migration, differentiation, and proliferations directly enhance wound healing and the generation of new skin.

If you have spent years in the sun, especially without adequate sun protection, then you know what it can do to your skin. Wrinkles, skin discoloration, sun spots, skin laxity may be reduced or eliminated with DOT Therapy. Also, if you have scars from acne or other skin injuries, then you may also be a candidate for this procedure.

Reverse the appearance of aged and sun damaged skin

Improve texture and firmness

Smooth wrinkles and lines

Reduce the appearance of acne and other scars

Renew your skin

What is DOT Therapy?

DOT Therapy (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) is a fresh new way to transform skin and enhance its overall appearance. DOT Therapy can reverse the appearance of aged or sun-damaged skin, smooth wrinkles and fine lines and minimize acne scars. Because DOT Therapy delivers the desired outcome with minimal downtime, it is rapidly replacing traditional laser skin resurfacing as the treatment of choice for mild to moderate signs of photo damage.

How Does DOT Therapy Work?

DOT Therapy is setting a new standard for skin rejuvenation in fractional laser resurfacing. During the procedure, your doctor will apply a pattern of tiny scanned pulses of laser energy to your skin with a controlled laser. The DOT procedure is customized to your skin by your doctor. The doctor can adjust the laser’s settings to tailor treatment and obtain the best results for you. Adjustments can be made throughout the procedure to more accurately treat specific areas such as acne scars on the cheeks or fine lines around the mouth.

The DOT Therapy laser precisely creates thousands of microscopic holes (DOT’s) in your skin, which induce immediate skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth. Patients are often amazed at how tight their skin feels immediately after the procedure. DOT Therapy is designed to improve the skin’s texture and tone and to fight fine lines, deep wrinkles, and acne scars.

Unlike other laser resurfacing technologies, DOT Therapy leaves islands of healthy tissue surrounding the microscopic DOTs. This enables your skin to heal more rapidly and minimizes overall damage.

Am I a good candidate for DOT Therapy?

DOT Therapy can be performed safely on nearly anyone with signs of aging skin. For more information, make an appointment today to ask your doctor if DOT Therapy is right for you.

What is the procedure like?

Prior to the procedure your doctor may apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to make the procedure more comfortable during the treatment. Intravenous sedation is not required. As you lie comfortably in the doctor’s chair, your skin is immediately renewed by DOT Therapy. The doctor will move the laser around the treatment area utilizing customized settings. After the procedure, your skin will be red, similar to a sunburn. The redness continues for a few days. By day three or four, you will experience some peeling as your fresh and younger looking skin appears. In most cases, your skin will return to its normal appearance in about seven to ten days. After the laser procedure is completed, a cold compress will be applied. During the recovery period you will apply a hydrating lotion to keep your skin moist and promote healing. In most cases, you may resume applying makeup after about three days.

How long does the procedure take?

In most cases, DOT Therapy can be performed to an entire face within twenty minutes. Smaller areas take less time.

How many treatments are required with DOT Therapy?

In most cases, excellent results can be achieved in a single session. However, persons with severe wrinkling or deep acne scars may benefit from a series of treatments spaced about one month apart. Your doctor will advise you on what results you can reasonably expect.

What precautions do I need to take after the procedure to maintain my results?

Basic skin care, thorough cleaning and sun protection are key to ensuring your results endure. Wear sunscreen and avoid direct sun exposure whenever possible, but especially in the weeks following treatment.

Is DOT Therapy safe?

DOT Therapy has received clearance from the Food & Drug Administration.

DOT Therapy is safer than traditional laser resurfacing treatments. Because sedation is not required, the patient is only exposed to a topical anesthetic. Injections and sedation are not necessary with DOT Therapy. Because DOT offers the doctor so much control and customization, patients are treated faster and more precisely. DOT Therapy leaves the skin around each perforation or ‘dot’ intact, which allows for rapid healing and improved complexion. The footprint that the DOT leaves is not as deep as traditional laser procedures which often created painful damage and bruising. Because the DOT creates a shallower, wider pattern, it promotes rapid healing. DOT is minimally invasive and extremely safe, while still delivering excellent results.

What is SmartLipo?

SmartLipo™ is the first and only laser-assisted lipolysis system to offer a revolutionary and minimally invasive procedure for the removal of fat. Using a high-powered laser, SmartLipo is a new Laser Body Sculpting procedure with less down time and side effects than traditional liposuction. If you’re seeking a cutting-edge, highly effective method to significantly improve the safety and efficiency of many surgical techniques, then laser technology is definitely the technique you’ll want to consider. Routinely used in dental procedures, lasik eye surgery, reconstructive work and cosmetic procedures-including liposuction-laser technology is what sets SmartLipo apart from its competition.

How does the SmartLipo procedure work?

A very small cannula, or tube, approximately 1.0 mm to 2.0 mm in diameter containing a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. The cannula is moved back and forth delivering the laser’s energy to the fat cells, causing them to rupture and easily drain away. The laser energy also interacts with the dermis it resulting in collagen shrinkage. Due to the cannula’s small size, SmartLipo is a minimally invasive procedure and can be performed under local anesthesia. The laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, resulting in less bleeding, swelling and bruising, – and a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction. Because general anesthesia is unnecessary, the procedure is very safe with only minimal side effects.

Is SmartLipo Right for You?

Almost anyone can be a good candidate for SmartLipo. In general, the ideal candidate: (1) is in good health, exercises regularly, is within 25 lbs. of his or her ideal weight; (2) has one or more areas of local body fat deposits that have responded poorly to diet and exercise; and (3) is bothered by these fatty areas, and is motivated to get rid of them permanently. Your doctor will review the benefits and risks of SmartLipo with you during your consultation visit. He will assess whether you are a good candidate with respect to your medical health, and he will clarify what SmartLipo could do for you.

Generally, SmartLipo might be right for you if:

You don’t have a lot of time to spend in recovery. SmartLipo patients are typically back to work within 1–2 days following the procedure. Bandages are removed 1–2 weeks after that.

You’ve worked hard to eat right and exercise, yet you still can’t lose those “love handles” or other fat deposits you consider unsightly. Human fat, or adipose tissue, can be very hard to get rid of through exercise and diet alone. SmartLipo can be a relatively simple solution to remove stubborn fat permanently.

You want a procedure that is FDA approved. The SmartLipo device was approved in November of 2006, and today is one of the fasting-growing, safest procedures in the cosmetic surgery field.

You don’t want loose skin as a result of the procedure. Many patients of traditional liposuction find that their skin does not adjust to the reduction of fat deposits. This tendency often results in unattractive “droops.” These patients often require skin lifts that can lead to scars, thus rendering the initial liposuction treatment useless. But by pulling the surrounding skin inward, SmartLipo laser technology can reconstruct the layers immediately under the patient’s skin, completely eliminating skin drooping.

You want permanent results. Once the fat is removed from a particular area of the body, it will never return. If you gain fat in the future, it will be deposited elsewhere on your body.

To be a good candidate for SmartLipo, you should have realistic expectations about the procedure’s capabilities. And while SmartLipo can improve your appearance and self-confidence, it won’t necessarily match your mental ideal, nor will it cause other people to act differently toward you. Before you decide to have SmartLipo, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with the physician during your consultation visit. SmartLipo…the safe, affordable and permanent alternative.

Who is a good candidate for the SmartLipo procedure?

If you have areas of fat that will not respond to diet and exercise, then you’re a candidate for SmartLipo. Ideal candidates are in good health, of normal body weight and have realistic expectations for the results.

What body regions can be treated with SmartLipo?

SmartLipo can be a great adjunct to traditional liposuction procedures and it is ideal for treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, knees, back, bra strap, mons pubis, breasts (gynecomastia), and areas of loose and flabby skin (floppy skin).

How many treatments will I need?

For most patients, typically only one treatment is required. The session may last from 45 minutes to one hour for each area treated.

Do I have to do anything post-treatment?

After the treatment you will have minimal pain or bruising. We recommend 1-2 days rest but most patients are able to return to work immediately “Lunch Hour Lipo”

Does SmartLipo treat cellulite?

The procedure will improve the body’s shape and may improve cellulite to a certain degree and will tighten sagging skin.

When can I expect to see results?

Results can be seen immediately with continued improvement over several months.

Does laser-assisted liposuction produce lasting results?

Yes! Adults do not create new fat cells. When a person gains weight, the fat cells expand. The SmartLipo procedure permanently removes the fat cells. Should you gain weight, most fat will be deposited in areas where the procedure was not performed. *Aest. Plast. Surg. 26:335-339, 2002

Advantages of SmartLipo

We have chosen SmartLipo after studying the pros and cons of various methods of liposuction. Here are some key points:

Minimal downtime: A few of our patients even return to work immediately, almost like a “lunchtime Liposuction”. Of course we normally advise a day or two of rest.

Minimal discomfort: During the procedure, there is no pain. After the anesthesia has worn off, it only feels like the aches and pains that follow a vigorous workout. This is unlike in traditional liposuction where a patient feels as if a truck was driven over the body. The bruises too are much less with SmartLipo.

Less traumatic: The fiber-optic cannula is inserted through a small puncture in the skin usually along creases that conceal the scar. As the laser melts the fats, it also coagulates the loose ends of small blood vessels. Compression garments are optional as the area will not bleed very much after the laser is removed. The granulation tissue (healing-tissues) does the rest of the work in contracting the treated area as well as the overlying skin.

Post-Operative Care: Almost “normal” skin after 3 months It would be very hard to find the insertion points or tell by looking at the skin that any liposuction has ever been done. Skin contracts with the healing-tissues that replace the melted fats.

Safety and Complications: SmartLipo is safer than traditional liposuction because there is less bleeding and anesthetic drugs used. In fact, in doing the procedure under tumescent technique, we have eliminated a lot of risks normally associated with general anesthesia.

What is Botox?

In an effort to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, many people are turning to Botox® Cosmetic. The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, simply called Botox® Cosmetic, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Botox® Cosmetic has also been shown effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes.

Have your ever looked in the mirror and studied those lines around your brow? You may ask yourself, is it a result of aging, change in weight, or too much sun? What about stress? How skin ages is a combination of many factors. The lines that appear between your brows are the result of repetitive muscle movement over time. The more you have frowned or squinted your eyes, the more these muscles have contracted, causing the skin to crease. Over time the creases remain on the face and can become more pronounced. For women, whose faces tend to be more dynamic and active than men’s, and whose skin is typically more delicate, these lines may appear overstated and more permanent.

It is strange to think of a toxin as a cure for wrinkles. But it makes sense once you understand what causes wrinkles and how Botox® Cosmetic works. There are two types of wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles, or muscle wrinkles, form where muscles move the face the most (around and between the eyes and around the mouth), and Static wrinkles are lines and crinkles that appear at the corners of the eyes and in other areas on the face. Dynamic wrinkles go deep. As they develop, they create grooves in the skin, which are apparent even when you are not moving your face. Static wrinkles are more superficial and are most noticeable when the face is moving, such as when you smile or frown. Because it affects the facial muscles, Botox® Cosmetic can help ease or prevent both types.

The Benefits of Botox® Cosmetic

Statistics show the benefits:

In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women surveyed rated the improvement in the appearance of frown lines between their brows as moderate to better 1 month after treatment. Results vary.

Results can last up to 4 months.

Botox® Cosmetic has been used to treat a million people in the United States since it was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2002 for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown lines in people ages 18 to 65.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked Botox® Cosmetic as the most popular of all physician-administered cosmetic procedures in 2002 and 2003.

Are you a Good Candidate for Botox® Cosmetic?

Botox® Cosmetic has been used to treat adults of all ages. Though the results have been excellent in all age groups, they are most dramatic in those with minimal signs of aging. It is recommended for patients who:

Have neck or facial wrinkles

Are in good physical condition

Are motivated to improve their appearance

Have realistic expectations

Don’t drink, smoke, or use recreational drugs

What are the Side Effects of Botox® Cosmetic?

There are very few side effects associated with Botox® Cosmetic injections. Small bruises or red marks at the sites of the injection may appear but usually fade within a few days. Mild headaches and nausea, though rare, have been reported by patients who receive forehead injections. Some injections can cause mild muscle aches. It is also possible for an adjoining muscle to experience weakness, although this is usually temporary (one to three weeks).

Swelling, though rare, may occur in the area around the injection. If the swelling lasts more than a few hours, simple massage should help reduce it. (Caution: Do not massage the area in the hours immediately following your injection, since this could cause the toxin to spread to adjacent muscles.

After the treatment, you should refrain from bending over or from vigorous activities for several hours to prevent the toxin from moving to an unwanted area. In rare cases, Botox® Cosmetic injections around the eye area can cause the eyelid to droop, though this will wear off in two or three weeks. It is even more rare, but possible, for injections in the neck muscles to cause difficulty swallowing. Be sure to discuss all the possible side effects with your doctor before beginning treatment.

Preparation Before the Botox® Cosmetic Procedure

Good communication between you and your physician will yield the best results. Discuss any concerns with the doctor before the procedure. List all medical conditions you have and any medications you are currently taking, in particular if you are taking an anti-inflammatory like Aspirin as this can lead to increased bruising. Be sure to discuss any food, drug, or other allergies.

The Botox® Cosmetic Procedure:

For any Botox® Cosmetic procedure, your doctor might have you apply ice to the area a few minutes before treatment. This is for two reasons: it causes the vessels in the skin to constrict which helps reduce bruising, and it helps decrease the small amount of pain associated with multiple injections. Ice can be beneficial for the same reasons after the Botox® Cosmetic treatment.

Once seated upright, the doctor will have you contract the muscle in the area being treated so that he or she can better target the injection into the muscle. Thus, if you’re receiving injections for wrinkles between the eyes, you will be asked to frown. For some procedures, the doctor may use an electromyelogram – a devise that helps your doctor locate the area of the muscles greatest contraction. Using this devise helps ensure that you will receive the right amount of toxin in the right place.

On average, you’ll receive three injections per muscle (depending on the area being treated, more or less injections may be needed). With each injection you will feel a needle prick, then a mild stinging or burning for a few seconds as the toxin flows in to the muscle. Again, depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to gently press a gauze pad against the injection site and/or hold to it for a few minutes.

The whole process takes about ten minutes to half an hour, depending on the number of areas being treated. As soon as the series of injections is completed, you can go back to your regular activities. As stated above, the doctor will probably ask you to refrain from bending or laying down for approximately four hours after the injections until the toxin has had time to attach to the nerve-muscle connection. You will be asked not to rub the area in order to prevent the toxin from spreading to adjacent muscles.

Recovery from the Botox® Cosmetic Procedure

The doctor will ask you to hold an Ice pack to the treated area for a few minutes after the treatment. This helps minimize bruising and discomfort resulting from the injections. It will also help keep the Botox® Cosmetic within in the injected areas. Botox® Cosmetic usually takes two to four days or even a week to have its full effect. You might be asked to return after two weeks so that your doctor can evaluate the results of the treatment, although you probably will not need to see the doctor until it is time for your next injections. If you feel the Botox® Cosmetic has not worked sufficiently, if you notice unevenness of eyebrows or other areas, or if your eyebrow is drooping, phone your doctor and request a follow up appointment.

How Long Does Botox® Cosmetic Last?

Depending on the area being treated, one series of injections generally lasts three to six months, though in some cases the improved appearance can last up to a year. As the toxin wears off, your wrinkles will gradually return, but they won’t be any worse than before the treatment. With repeated injections, the effects generally tend to last longer. There is some evidence that after prolonged treatment the affected muscles may become permanently weakened, so fewer treatments will be needed.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse™ is a next-generation cosmetic filler used in the treatment of deep lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth – including smile lines, marionette lines, and nasolabial folds. Radiesse cosmetic filler contains small microspheres (particles) suspended in a gel-like solution. There is no need for an allergy test prior to Radiesse filler injections since the microspheres are comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite, a substance naturally found in the body.

For the first three months after Radiesse treatment, it acts as a cosmetic filler, plumping up the skin and diminishing age lines. Then, Radiesse microspheres stimulate natural collagen growth, actually causing new tissue development for extended results (up to two years). In addition, Radiesse is useful in the treatment of facial lipoatrophy (a stigmatizing effect of HIV), vocal cord deficiencies, oral and maxillofacial defects, as well as scars and chin dimples.

Candidates for Radiesse Treatment

Candidates for Radiesse cosmetic filler treatment include patients showing obvious signs of facial aging. Radiesse candidates commonly seek treatment for prominent smile lines, marionette lines, and other facial wrinkles. Radiesse can also be used as an alternative to implant surgery, providing augmentation to a patient’s nose, cheeks, or chin. Patients suffering vocal cord insufficiency or oral and maxillofacial defects (such as periodontal and cystic defects) can also benefit from Radiesse treatment. Because Radiesse cosmetic filler is made of a natural substance that occurs in the body, no allergy testing is needed. Click the following link for more information about candidates for Radiesse injections.

Radiesse Cost and Financing Information

Because varying dosages of Radiesse cosmetic filler are used to treat different areas of the face, it is difficult to provide an accurate cost estimate without a doctor examination. Generally, the cost of Radiesse ranges from $650 to $800 per syringe. Although this price range is higher than some cosmetic fillers (such as Restylane® and Perlane®), Radiesse offers longer-lasting results, requiring less frequent treatments, thus saving the patient money in the end. Learn more about Radiesse cost and financing.

The Radiesse Treatment Process

The Radiesse treatment process is a simple outpatient procedure generally performed using a local anesthetic. Treatment time takes up to 15 minutes, depending upon the extent of the treatment. The doctor selects one or more injection points for each location to be treated. Local anesthesia and an antiseptic are applied. The Radiesse cosmetic filler is then injected beneath the skin, under the dermis and subcutis layer. Although patients should see immediate results, the final product is evident within one week. Results last up to two years. Learn more about the Radiesse treatment process.

Risks and Benefits of Radiesse Injections

Although all elective cosmetic procedures are accompanied by some risk, the risks associated with Radiesse cosmetic filler are minimal. Usually, injectable fillers carry the risk of allergic reaction. However, because Radiesse is made of a substance that occurs naturally in the body, there is virtually no risk of allergy. The greatest risk associated with Radiesse occurs when patients allow non-licensed practitioners to administer the treatment. This risk can be avoided by checking the credentials of your doctor or using DocShop to locate a board-certified practitioner near you. Learn more about the risks and benefits of Radiesse cosmetic filler.

Radiesse FAQs

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is one of the newest, “next generation” substances in cosmetic surgery known as “dermal fillers” or “injectable fillers”. Because more patients want quick procedures that show almost immediate results with little, or no, downtime, Juvederm has become extremely popular with consumers; the substance is often used by cosmetic, dermatological and plastic surgeons. Made of a natural substance known as hyaluronic acid, Juvederm is FDA approved and — like Restylane and Botox — is one of the fastest growing non-surgical aesthetic procedures in the United States.

Juvederm is often used to:

Plump up folds that run from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth

Fill in the prominent vertical wrinkles, (the “11s”) between the eyebrows

Augment the hollows under the eyes

Reduce the “Marionette lines,” the down turned creases at the corner of the mouth

Scar correction

Augment thin or aging lips

Hyaluronic acid is important because one of its chief functions in the human body is maintaining skin volume and hydration. In medicine, hyaluronic acid has been used to ease joint pain, treat wounds and in eye surgery. In was used for the first time in 1996 in Europe for facial tissue augmentation.

What are the Benefits of Juvederm?

Most cosmetic or plastic surgery procedures used to correct the above facial items involve surgery which has its own set of risks and drawbacks. While complications rarely occur at the hands of experienced, board-certified cosmetic and plastic surgeons, other drawbacks include going under anesthesia, dealing with pain and bandages and taking required time away from work and other activities for healing. However, an injectable filler like Juvederm can accomplish the same facial rejuvenation so the patient can leave the doctor’s office immediately and fully resume his or her normal activities by the next day. Moreover, the cost is less than surgery.

Where Do I Begin?

With a consultation by a board-certified plastic, cosmetic or dermatological surgeon. During consultations, doctors can learn more about patients and vice versa. Moreover, the consultation visit gives the doctor a chance to evaluate the current state of the patient’s skin and face while discussing options that will help the patient achieve the desired look. Consultation visits also give patients the opportunity to talk about their goals and expectations for their treatments, ask any questions they might have, and look at before and after pictures of previous patients who had the same procedure. These visits also allow doctors to tell their patients about the benefits, precautions, treatment response, adverse reactions, method of anesthetic administration, if any, and other important issues.

What Are The Risks and Side Effects To Having Juvederm?

Depending on the procedure and the amount of Juvederm injected, risks include bruising, swelling and infection, all of which are minimized by seeing a board certified practitioner. In clinical testing, the most commonly reported side effects included temporary injection site reactions like redness, pain and tenderness, skin firmness and lumps and bumps under the skin known as granulomas. According to Allergan, Juvederm’s manufacturer, treated areas should not be exposed to excessive sun, or extremely cold weather until initial swelling and redness has been resolved. Laser treatments, chemical peel and other procedures on the skin should be delayed until after receiving Juvederm due to a possible risk of inflammation at the injection site. Most Juvederm providers caution patients that bruising or bleeding at the injection site can be increased by taking aspirin, ibuprofen or any other substance that thins the blood. Juvederm is not indicated for people who have allergies to bacterial proteins or patients with severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or multiple severe allergies.

What Are the Results of Juvederm and How Long Do They Last?

Juvederm’s results are usually natural, seen immediately and look about the same as with surgery. However, the body absorbs the hyaluronic acid over time so the injections must be repeated periodically to maintain the refreshed look; Juvederm lasts about four to six months. For longer results, the manufacturer, Allergan, also offers Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus which are said to last about a year.

What Are the Costs of Juvederm?

Costs vary according to the region of the nation in which you live. According to the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the national average for a vial of Juvederm runs between $300 and $500. One-half vial of Juvederm treats one nasolabial fold.

Ten Questions Every Patient Should Ask The Surgeon About Juvederm.

To gain a more thorough understanding about Juvederm, and help form realistic expectations, it is recommended that the patient look at before and after photographs of the surgeon’s previous Juvederm patients and speak with them. It is also important for patients to ask questions about anything they do not understand about the procedure. Here are some recommended questions:

Is what I describe for my results realistic?

Where are Juvederm injections delivered and how long will it take?

In my case, what technique is most appropriate in helping me achieve my cosmetic goal?

What kind of anesthesia, if any, will be used during my procedure?

How much does Juvederm or Juvederm Ultra cost and what elements factor into that cost like hospital fees, anesthesia, and so on?

What is the surgeon’s level of experience in delivering Juvederm?

What percentage of patients experience complications?

What is the surgeon’s policy about correcting or repeating the procedure if the first procedure does not meet agreed upon results?

What should I expect, post-operatively, in terms of soreness, bruising, activity level, and so on?

Have you ever had your malpractice insurance coverage denied, revoked or suspended?

Patients should also tell their surgeons about any allergies, serious medical conditions, medications, vitamins and minerals they may be taking.
